Children’s Resource 11th June

Sunday 11th June 2023 – Jairus Daughter

Read: Read Matthew 9:18-26

As Jesus was travelling with his disciples, he was constantly teaching them and showing them new things. He was nearly always surrounded by a large crowd of people, and people were always keen to talk to him and to hear what he had to say. One day as he was surrounded by a large crowd a man came and asked Jesus to come to his house, his daughter had died but he had faith that Jesus could help. Jesus agreed to go but as he was moving away something happened, a woman who had been bleeding for 12 years touched the hem of Jesus cloak. She had such faith that she knew the smallest touch would make a difference! Jesus saw her and told her that her faith had healed her. He then went to the man’s house, he went in and said the girl was not dead, just asleep. The house was crowded, and everyone laughed at him. Once the house was empty Jesus went to the girl and took her by the hand. She got up! She was alive! As you can imagine word of this spread all around the country!

Why did the man come to find Jesus? What did he want Jesus to do? What did the woman do? Why was Jesus not angry with her? What happened to the man’s daughter? Why did the people laugh at Jesus? I wonder how you would have felt if you were there.

Pray: God, you are all powerful! Amen

Father in heaven watch over our loved ones.
Keep them by your side.
May they be safe and peaceful, in you may they abide.
Give wisdom to the doctors and nurses too we pray,
renew their strength and bless them for the work they do each day. Send healing and restoration and let them feel your love.
May your Holy Spirit give them rest as gentle as a dove. Amen (taken from Praying Together)
