Children’s Resource Sheet Sunday 12th March

Sunday 12th March 2023 – The Woman at the Well

Read: John 4:5-42

Jesus spent time with people that others didn’t think were good enough, or important enough for him to do so. Jesus thought differently and in todays story we hear about how he spent time with a Samaritan woman. This would have been bad enough but this woman did not have a good reputation. She was surprised when Jesus spoke to her because not only was she a Samaritan but she was also a woman! This was unheard of. As they spoke more the woman became even more surprised as Jesus was able to tell her things that she had not told him – not only about herself but about her beliefs. The woman knew the Messiah was coming and that he would explain everything. When Jesus told her that he was the Messiah she left the well and went to tell everyone. The Samaritans wanted to know more so they asked Jesus to stay with them for a few days – lots of the Samaritans started to believe, not only because of the woman, but because of what they had seen and heard.

Who did Jesus speak to? Why was this surprising? What did he tell her? What did she do when she realised who Jesus was? Why did the Samaritans want him to stay? I wonder how the woman felt after meeting Jesus?

Pray: Dear God, help us to use Lent as a time of preparation for Easter.

Thank you that we can worship you where we are. Amen

Father in heaven watch over our loved ones.
Keep them by your side.
May they be safe and peaceful, in you may they abide.
Give wisdom to the doctors and nurses too we pray,
renew their strength and bless them for the work they do each day. Send healing and restoration and let them feel your love.
May your Holy Spirit give them rest as gentle as a dove. Amen (Taken from Praying Together)
